Connecting textile and material knowledge with digital making, circular design and collaborative research.

Rebecca Marsden

Rebecca Marsden

Textiles, materials & knowledge exchange

TUS research profile

Rebecca’s practice moves between fashion design, material research and education, with a particular interest in raw materials, textiles and tactility. She holds a master’s degree in Fashion Design from the Royal College of Art. At LSAD, her teaching has spanned interdisciplinary design, fashion and textiles, and design for sustainability and circular economies.

Her research connects hands-on material exploration with the wider systems in which textiles are produced, used and recirculated. Alongside this practice, she works across industry and education to build partnerships and exchange knowledge. She brings iterative design methods into collaborative settings, with contributions spanning textile-sector skills, circular design, materials research and policy.

José Luis Berna Moya

José Luis Berna Moya

Digital fabrication & creative computing

TUS research profile

José Luis is an artist-researcher currently lecturing in Digital Fabrication and Creative Computing at LSAD. His background is in electronic engineering, and he holds a PhD in Informatics from the University of Sussex, where his research in human-computer interaction spanned haptics and force feedback in virtual reality, multisensory displays and experimental interactive devices.

His practice combines electronics, software and physical making, spanning interactive work and digital fabrication. Within textile research, he applies this background to accessible design-to-print tools and experimental structures, exploring how designers and students can work directly with emerging fabrication processes.

Ciana Martin

Product design, circularity & research practice

TUS research profile

Ciana is a product designer and researcher with a background in design at the University of Limerick. Her approach combines user research, concept development, technical exploration and prototyping. Her portfolio spans mobility and healthcare design, sustainable packaging, transport and material-led fashion, bringing attention to both the experience of using an object and how it might be made.

This breadth informs her research interests in circular textile systems and emerging fabrication technologies. Her work connects design-led investigation with material exploration and collaborative research, drawing on experience in design for manufacture, fabric manipulation and laser cutting. She has also contributed to research communication through a co-authored report on digital storytelling.

Eleanor Moloney

Architecture, collaborative design & place-based research

TUS research profile

Eleanor is a former member of the lab whose background brings together architecture, design research and creative collaboration. Her master’s research, A Hidden City, investigated Limerick’s Georgian lanes as a network of potential public spaces, using mapping, photography, models and community engagement to explore people-centred approaches to urban regeneration.

Her wider work connects cultural heritage, sustainability and the ways people learn and make together. It includes community-led research into sustainable tourism, alongside digital fabrication and co-design for fashion, textiles and wearables. Across these settings, her interests link the material and social qualities of place with collaboration between education, communities and industry.
