About
Future Textile Lab is a new research group at Limerick School of Art and Design, Technological University of the Shannon. We explore how textiles will be designed and made in the future, from new and circular materials to digital fabrication, future manufacturing and digital fashion.
We work by making. Current projects include THREADs, which looks at end-of-life textiles as a resource, and 3DP-STeF, which connects 3D printing, textile design and the skills needed for future manufacturing. We also take part in wider TUS and LSAD collaborations on sustainable materials, craft and design.
As the lab grows, we are interested in how digital tools are reshaping fashion and textiles, from 3D garment simulation and digital twins to AI-assisted design, and in exploring them together with colleagues across the school.
